Years working for Rookie Academy?
This will be my first season working for Rookie Academy. I'm stoked at the opportunity to work with so many awesome skiers. And to help share my passion for the sport with our guests.
How many seasons have you taught skiing/riding?
I have been teaching skiing for 18years, and somewhere in there I did 22 winters in a row, as I did back to back seasons working in Canada and Mount Buller Australia. So I have close to 30 winters under my belt :)
Where have you taught skiing/riding?
I have skied all over the world, but I have taught skiing in Italy, Switzerland, Canada, China, Australia, and now New Zealand :)
What are your Top 5 favourite places to ski/ride?
1. Silver Star, Canada
2. Saas-Fee, Switzerland
3. Whistler Blackcomb, Canada
4. Chamonix, France
5. Val D'isere, France

Why I love Treble Cone
Why I love working for the Rookie Academy
What’s one piece of advice to anyone trying to improve their skiing/riding?
Ski to balance and not to an image, if you're not in balance you won't have access to the moves you need to control the skis the way you want to. I wouldn't get caught up in trying to ski to an image, more so understand what happend to make that image possible. This still holds true when I am working on my own skiing. It's never over, there are always improvements to be made, and in my mind that's one of the things that makes skiing so special.
What keeps you motivated to keep pushing your skiing/riding?
I think I am now addicted to the pursuit of mastery. The reasons why I love the sport have evolved and grown over my skiing career. But I can honestly say I am addicted to figuring out why I can't move in a way that I might want to, and trying to figure out the solution to that. As for me, I want to be able to do what I want, when I want to do it, the way I want to do it.
What’s one of your memorable skiing/riding experiences?
Interski 2023 in Levi - for so many reasons.
What type of gear do you ski/ride on and why?
I ski on MDV products, such as Marker, Dalbello, Volkl. I ski on a brand that I can trust to produce quality equipment. No nonsense, highly engineered skis. I gravitated to this brand because the equipment seemed to resinate with how I moved on my skis, over brands just didn't feel right. But year after year this company just solidifies that I made the right decision. I also use Varga goggles. Not on the market yet but this is a local Canadian goggle company that is made by instructors, for instructors. Be sure to watch out for them very soon.
