Why I love teaching skiing and training people?
- I love how challenging skiing becomes when you get passed a certain level and start working towards mastering skills. Teaching, training or guiding people to this level of understanding adds another level of challenge in itself. This challenge constantly makes me reflect on my own performance when out on the hill and i love finding new ways to deliver this information to others. Then the small 'ah ha' moments that students get is something i find infectious.
What’s one piece of advice to anyone trying to improve their skiing?
- Be patient, especially as your skill level improves. People quite often get frustrated when a change doesnt happen all at once or they have a bad day skiing. Change takes time and learning new skills or movement patterns can be a bit of a rollercoaster emotionally.
What keeps you motivated to keep pushing your skiing?
- Never being able to achieve perfection and getting inspired by other pro’s in the industry. I love all the very different styles and technique that is found around the world in the ski industry. Watching others and taking bits i like to try to add to my skiing is something that keep pushing me to improve.
What’s one of your memorable skiing experiences?
- I have two, being part of my first Interski in 2019 in Pamporovo in Bulgaria with IASI, this was a huge point in my career and something i always wanted to be a part of. The other is skiing Silverstar back in 2009 with buddies having had 60+ cm of the lightest champagne powder and an empty resort.
What type of gear do you ski on and why?
- I like to play around a lot with my skis and tend not to stay on the same pair for more than a few days. I ski with Volkl, Marker, Dalbello and switch between and SL Master 165cm, Deacon 72 Master 178cm and 180cm GS.
